Talk to as many nurses as you can! Hear them out and you’ll always learn something!

What I liked
I liked being able to learn more about the nursing role than you are able to experience in regular clinicals. There is a lot more hands on, documentation, and skills you get to practice.
What I wish was different
I wish the externship lasted longer than 8 weeks.
Advice
It is a great experience to do an internship/externship while in nursing school. I highly recommend it and it is something that will stand out when trying to get a job after graduation. Go into it with an open mind and choose a unit out of your comfort zone!
